By this point you have probably heard about the 9th Circuit’s Appellate decision upholding the decision in Duncan v. Becerra that California’s “large capacity magazine” ban was unconstitutional and infringed upon the Second Amendment. If not, you can read the decision here.
Operation Blazing Sword / Pink Pistols is pleased to announce that we played a role in that decision. Not only did we file a joint amicus curiae brief alongside the National African American Gun Association, our brief was quoted in the final decision!
The Pink Pistols is no stranger to the courts. We have filed many amicus briefs, including some very high-profile cases such as DC. v. Heller and Peruta v. San Diego, and of course we were the plaintiffs in Grace & Pink Pistols v. DC. We will continue to file amicus briefs in lawsuits which challenge firearm prohibition, and currently are involved in the following cases:
- Rupp v. Beccera, which challenges California’s so-called “Assault Weapons Control Act”;
- McCarthy v. Baker, which seeks an injunction again Massachusetts’ ruling that gun stores are “non-essential” and should be closed during the Coronavirus lockdown;
- Aragon v Grisham, which does the same for New Mexico.
It is our honor and privilege to fight against unconstitutional firearm legislation and protect the right to keep and bear arms for all people, not just queer people. Unlike Gays Against Guns or Everytown, however, we aren’t funded by a New York City billionaire; we exist on donations by people like you. If you support our mission, please buy some of our branded merchandise or send us a tax-deductible donation. We can’t do this without your help.
